A Note From the Editor

 Happy Holidays !

The holiday season is a time to be thankful and to spend memorable moments with friends and family. It is also a time to shop ‘til you drop! With that being said, the staff at Eco Community Seeds wants to thank you again for being part of our extended family. As our gift to you and a heart filled “thank you,” we put this issue together while focusing on holiday solutions. We hope it helps in accommodating a little relief attached to the stressful task related to the exhausting
holiday hustle. The Winter issue is designed to be the designated guide to a greener holiday season. This issue will aid you with finding:

    Web Designer, Graphic Artist and Mother of Three, DeAnna holds a BS Degree in Gerontology from USC, a California Teaching Credential and Science Supplement From CSU, Chico, and an AA Degree in Liberal Studies/Photo Journalism from Grossmont College in San Diego.

    • Aimée Sunseri

    Aimee graduated from the University of California, Davis, with honors in
    Viticulture and Enology. She then immediately began to prepare for New
    Clairvaux’s first “crush,” relying on years of field experience at her family’s wineries, Nichelini Family Winery in St. Helena and Boeger Winery in Placerville. As a fifth-generation Californian winemaker, Aimee continues to work for the Nichelini Family Winery and the 60-acre vineyard her greatgreat-grandfather and great-grandfather planted in the foothills of St. Helena. http://www.newclairvauxvineyard.comread article

    working at 5th Street Steak House in Chico Ca. He has been as active member of the Flair Bartenders’ Association since 2004 and has competed in, several national and world flair bartending competitions. He is also an active member with The Guild of Sommeliers , and is currently pursing his Sommelier Certification.read article

    Chef Nathan Lyon is known for his simple, innovative cuisine featuring fresh, seasonal ingredients. Chef and co-host of Growing A Greener World (PBS), Nathan was the creator and host of A Lyon in the Kitchen (Discovery Health and Fit TV), and among the final four on the second season of The Next Food Network Star.

    A microbiologist turned ethnobotanist, a herbal hunter and Director of

    Pamala holds a M.S. and a B.S. in Plant Science from California State
    University, Fresno. Pam is currently the Academic Coordinator for the
    Statewide Master Gardener Program, University of California, Davis. Pam has been published in many academic journals and publications.

      Partner Program

      SUBMITTING AN ARTICLE

      Submitting an article is a great way to get published!

      •Size- articles be no more than two pages, typed (roughly under 1000
      words).

      •Content- Suggestions for content include: an informational piece, a narrative, an interview, a book review or a how-to. If you are a business owner, articles may not be an ad and should not contain the business name, unless it is for the local business section of the magazine. Please email with any questions regarding this issue. If you are interested in purchasing advertising, please see our media kit.

      •Format- Send articles as an attached document. Sending text in an email may work for some short articles, but many times it comes as read only text, and we cannot edit it. We recommend sending as a Word or Works document.

      •Photos- Photos make articles more interesting and make them stand out. All photos need to be sent as jpeg no less than 300dpi.

      •Bio- Include a 2-3 sentence bio and self photo (if possible) for the Contributor’s page.

      •Where to Send- Please email articles and photos to Lorianne S. Riley at: info@communityseeds.com. You may also mail a disc to Community Seeds Magazine, 1035 Village Lane, Chico, CA 95926. Please email any questions you may have.

      •Deadlines- The deadlines for article submissions are as follows (you can email articles any time before the deadline dates):

      Summer: May 15

      Fall: August 15

      Winter: November 15

      Spring: February 15

      •Article Consideration- Articles are submitted for consideration and will be accepted according to content and relevance to the issue.

      We will choose articles for each issue and file others for future issues. Send yours soon to be considered for the next issue!
